About us

Established in 2016: At NU Films we control our projects all the way trough...

At NU Films, I am the "Filmmaker"... my experience has taught me to appreciate what filmmakers go through to guarantee how a film translates to an audience. How could any “Filmmaker” think of letting someone else take full responsibility for that. And guess who is the person that actually takes on that responsibility... that's right... it's the Editor. You have to be a FILMMAKER to know that this is true. The editor will choose what will be used to convey that which is written in the story and script and from what has been sent to him by the Director. What you are actually getting for a finished product when it is done that way is the editor's interpretation, not the DIRECTOR’S. It is the Editor who is piecing the film together... what you are getting is the EDITOR'S amass of what the Director’s vision is suppose to be. "WRONG!"It won’t happen that way at NU Films... because I “the Filmmaker” am sitting there with my editor choosing which shots better make a point. The reason I do this is quite complicated, but simple to explain, so I will explain it to you like this. Quite frankly, only “I” know what my interpretation is of a perticular project... and in addition to that something magical happens in the editing process... and unless you are in that editing room with that editor you won't be in on those "Ahhh Haaa" moments that the editor didn't get to since because he didn't witness everything that was captured everyday on the set that may be still sitting on the “Dailies" room floor… plus, while editing a film things pop out at you that make “profound statements”, statements that you may not have noticed before, sometimes they become absolutely BRILLIANT to you and take precedence over what you originally intended in a shot… and you may not realize that until you’re actually in there editing. It is very important that you understand that!

I have given you 3 examples below that have "Ahhh Haaa" moments in them that have been added to the final pieces, and it's always just little subtle things, in these cases they where "mistakes"... but those “mistakes” actually expressed a better "truth"… see if you can spot them. Understand that these are simply STUDENT FILMS... meaning... they where basically conceived, shot, and edited all in just one day (one day of shooting and another day or two of editing). That's about all the time you get as a filmmaking student, as compared to the 6 months of shooting and 1 year of editing that goes into making a Major Motion Picture.

Thank you for tuning in... enjoy!
